Dubai International Cricket Stadium: Ground guide
West Indies have played 17 T20Is in 2021, winning eight and losing six (three of their four matches against Pakistan in July and August were rained off). Highlights for Kieron Pollard's side include a 2-1 series win over Sri Lanka in spring and a 4-1 thrashing of Australia in July. However, the defending champions were comfortably beaten in both of their warm-up matches, losing to Pakistan by seven wickets and Afghanistan by 56 runs.
England have played three T20I series in 2021, losing to India 3-2 in March before recording back-to-back home series victories over Sri Lanka (2-0) and Pakistan (2-1) over the summer. In their warm-up matches, England lost to India by seven wickets before defeating New Zealand by 13 runs. Eoin Morgan's side have won three of their past four T20s.
England and West Indies have met four times in T20Is since the 2016 T20 World Cup final, with England winning three and losing one.
Dafabet have England as the favourites to win this match, offering odds of 4/6 in favour of Eoin Morgan's side. West Indies are available at 6/5.
It will be interesting to see how England use Moeen Ali. The 34-year-old, who is ranked 10th on the T20 Player Index, enters the World Cup off the back of a strong IPL campaign with Chennai Super Kings, which saw him score 357 runs at a strike rate of 137.30 in 15 innings. He wasn't a consistent run scorer but chipped in with several important knocks, including a 20-ball 37 in the final, and backed that performance up with destructive 20-ball 43 against India in England's first warm-up game. Moeen is a versatile batter who looks comfortable in any position from no.3 to no.7, a handy spin option (though recently not at his best), and used wisely, could be a regular match-winner for England.
West Indies have a star-studded squad including the likes of Chris Gayle, Andre Russell and captain Pollard. However, the two players to watch are the standout performers from the 2021 Caribbean Premier League: bowler Ravi Rampaul and batter Roston Chase.
Rampaul, a brisk right-armer who made his last T20I appearance in 2015, took 19 wickets for Trinbago Knight Riders and conceded a tidy 7.96 runs per over. Chase, meanwhile, scored 446 runs (including four half-centuries) at a strike rate of 144.33 to pip Evin Lewis to the CPL's Golden Bat award. The 29-year-old has failed to pass 30 just twice in his past 10 T20 innings and top-scored for West Indies against Afghanistan with an unbeaten 54. Chase may struggle to force his way into West Indies' top order, but if he can, he'll be a force to be reckoned with.
With Liam Livingstone receiving the all clear after an injury scare against India, both teams are set to have all 15 players available.

England have the edge in the head-to-head since the 2016 final but this will likely be another close encounter between two sides in patchy form. England to win, just.
