England got their 2021 T20 World Cup campaign off to a winning start with an emphatic six-wicket victory over West Indies. Eoin Morgan's side bowled the defending champions out for just 55 in their tournament opener before chasing down their target with 70 balls to spare. England have now won six of their past seven T20Is.
Bangladesh, meanwhile, have four matches under their belt at the tournament and a record of two wins and two draws. After losing to Scotland in their tournament opener, Bangladesh defeated Oman and Papua New Guinea to progress to the Super 12s. However, they failed to defend 171 against Sri Lanka on Sunday and slipped to a five-wicket defeat with seven balls remaining.
England and Bangladesh have never met in a T20I.
Dafabet have England as the favourites to win this match, offering odds of 1/4 in favour of Eoin Morgan's side. Bangladesh are available at 14/5.
Without wishing to sound like a broken record, Shakib Al Hasan (ranked 30th in the T20 Player Index) is the star for Bangladesh and has scored 118 runs and taken a team-leading 11 wickets in the tournament to date. However, there is talent elsewhere in the squad, most notably Mohammad Naim. The 22-year-old opener has enjoyed a strong start to the tournament, scoring half-centuries against Oman and Sri Lanka either side of a duck against Papua New Guinea. He's a player who likes to go big once he gets in and with a strike rate of 121.15, his wicket will be the target for England early doors.
Adil Rashid is the player to watch for England. The veteran spinner took a quickfire 4 for 2 from his 2.2 overs against West Indies, sweeping up the bottom half of the order and removing dangermen Kieron Pollard and Andre Russell to kill off the defending champions' last hopes of a decent total. Rashid is England's leading wicket-taker in T20Is in 2021, with 18 wickets in 11 matches and an economy of 6.91.
Mark Wood missed England's opener with an ankle niggle and may not be risked against Bangladesh.
With conditions in Abu Dhabi possibly favouring seam, Taskin Ahmed could return to Bangladesh's XI in place of Nasum Ahmed. Liton Das remains in danger at the top of the order after scoring just 16 runs, dropping two catches and being involved in an altercation with Lahiru Kumara against Sri Lanka.
