Oman Cricket Academy Ground: Ground guide
Bangladesh are in terrific nick. They have series victories over both Australia and New Zealand - albeit a second-string Kiwi side - in the past two and a half months, and have won nine of their 13 T20Is since April.
That said, their warm-up matches ahead of this tournament have not quite gone to plan: defeats have come against Ireland and Sri Lanka.
These two sides have only met once in a T20I, at The Hague in 2012, when Scotland emerged triumphant.
The Scots fancy their chances of causing anyone they meet a headache at this World Cup. There is confidence in the camp despite the fact they did not play a T20I for nearly two years between October 2019 and September 2021.
They have won two and lost three of the five T20Is they have contested this year, as well as winning two warm-up matches ahead of the tournament: against Namibia and the Netherlands.
Dafabet make Bangladesh the hot favourites in this one, with the Tigers available at incredibly short odds of 1/5. Fancy Scotland to spring an upset? Then you can back them at 7/2.
This tournament may well be the acid test of whether Mustafizur Rahman can ever return to the technical and skilled operator that broke through six years ago.
A World T20 five-for, an IPL title, the emerging player award, an ICC accolade and the expectation he would be the long-term successor to Mashrafe Mortaza; Rahman had the world at his feet. But a succession of injuries, most importantly a shoulder issue suffered while in England, has stalled his progress.
There is nothing substandard about Bangladesh's spin attack - who have been nurtured by Rangana Herath ahead of the tournament - which has genuine depth and possesses plenty of threat. Nasum Ahmed is only 14 matches into his international career, but he already looks at home. His 16 wickets came at 12.25 in 11 matches over the 2021 season.
For Scotland, there aren’t many players in world cricket fonder of the sweep shot and its various alternatives than George Munsey, who hit 14 sixes in his demolition of Netherlands in 2019 – an innings of 127 in 56 balls. In doing so, he and Coetzer put together a 200-run opening partnership, the third-largest in T20I history.
He is the highest-rated Scottish player by the T20 Player Index, coming in at No.338.

Scotland are outsiders but if they can get big runs on the board, they stand a chance. Bangladesh to scrape it.
