Underestimate the small man at your peril.

Richardson generates plenty of pace from a low trajectory, his rapid action more than capable of breaching the defences of the world’s best batsmen. Just ask Virat Kohli.

The India captain was dismissed three times by Richardson in three ODIs at the start of 2019.

Having first burst onto the international scene in T20 cricket, thanks to some excellent performances in the Big Bash, he has quickly established himself with the Aussies over the two years since his 2017 debut.

Injuries have hampered his progress a little, however, and there was a moment of worry for the quick during the recent ODI series against Pakistan, when he dislocated his shoulder and there were fears that the injury could rule him out of the World Cup.

However, further scans showed no bone damage and surgery was not necessary, giving the selectors the green light to pick him in the preliminary 15-man squad.
