Rob Taylor has stepped down as head coach of Lightning. The former Scotland and Leicestershire bowler coached the regional side for two seasons.

Under his leadership Lightning finished bottom of the North Group in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy in 2020 and fourth (out of eight) in 2021. In the Charlotte Edwards Cup, the East Midlands outfit failed to win a single match.

Taylor previously coached Loughborough Lightning in the Kia Super League for two seasons, reaching Finals Day on two occasions, and served as a bowling coach for Welsh Fire in the inaugural season of The Hundred.

In a statement, confirming his departure, Lightning said: "Rob Taylor will be stepping down as head coach after being in charge for two years in the regional set-up.

"Everyone at Lightning would like to thank Rob for all his hard work and commitment to the programme. We wish him the best for the future."
