London Spirit have brought in international star power for the 2022 edition of The Hundred, adding Australian World Cup-winning duo Beth Mooney and Megan Schutt, and New Zealand allrounder Amelia Kerr to their roster.
Mooney, an explosive wicketkeeper-batter, was due to represent Welsh Fire in 2021 and brings nearly 7,000 T20 runs at a strike rate of 117.44 to the squad. Schutt, meanwhile, is a fast-medium bowler with an array of variations up her sleeve and just the small matter of 96 T20I wickets in 75 appearances.
21-year-old Kerr, who was due to represent Southern Brave in 2021, is one of the rising stars of women’s white-ball cricket. Already with 95 international caps to her name, she is both an explosive top-order batter and a wicket-taking leggie, although her economy sometimes get the better of her.
London Spirit’s final new addition is Western Storm skipper Sophie Luff. A top-order batter, Luff made eight appearances for Welsh Fire last season, scoring 79 runs.

Welsh Fire are unlikely to collect a second wooden spoon in 2022 after recruiting a host of experienced signings, both domestic and overseas.
Newly-crowned World Cup winners Rachael Haynes and Annabel Sutherland are the marquee overseas signings. Haynes, a top-order batter, was due to represent Oval Invincibles in 2021 while pace-bowling allrounder Sutherland was previously selected by Trent Rockets.
A trio of England internationals past and present will also call Wales home for the summer, with Tammy Beaumont, Fran Wilson and Alex Hartley all joining Welsh Fire.
Beaumont, who will skipper the side, previously represented London Spirit, scoring 139 runs and completing four dismissals, while spinner Hartley took eight wickets for Manchester Originals. Wilson, meanwhile, was a member of the victorious Oval Invincibles side, scoring 108 runs for Dane van Niekerk’s side, but was deemed surplus to requirements in February.
Sarah Bryce also joins from Oval Invincibles. The Scotland and Lightning international is a top-order batting option and wicketkeeper.
Fi Morris, Western Storm’s spin-bowling allrounder, is the other new arrival, joining from Southern Brave.

Manchester Originals are harking back to the days of Lancashire Thunder with their two overseas additions, with both Amy Satterthwaite and Deandra Dottin calling the north-west home during the KSL.
New Zealand international Satterthwaite is a top-order batter and part-time off-spinner, with over 250 white-ball caps to her name.
Dottin, a West Indies international, is another all-round option, big-hitting with the bat and, as evidenced at the World Cup, dynamite under pressure with the ball. Her bowling has, however, been sporadic in recent years due to injury. She represented London Spirit in 2021, scoring 146 runs at a strike rate of 117.74 and taking three wickets.
Phoebe Graham, now of Thunder, and Ami Campbell (Central Sparks) have both been poached from Northern Superchargers. Graham made four appearances with little impact last season but is a handy medium-pacer while Campbell, a hard-hitting batter, missed the tournament due to Covid-19.
Central Sparks’ teenage medium-pacer Grace Potts is the other new face.

After retaining 11 members of their squad from 2021 (Alyssa Healy was a squad member but couldn’t play), Northern Superchargers have signed just two new faces.
The first is Northern Diamonds allrounder Jenny Gunn, who sat out last year’s competition to serve as Dani Hazell’s assistant coach. However, the former England international is back and after scoring 206 runs and taking 22 wickets for Northern Diamonds last season, she will certainly have something to add with both bat and ball.
The other new arrival is former Trent Rocket, Lucy Higham. The 24-year-old, who plays as a spin-bowling allrounder for Lightning, took two wickets in six appearances last season.

England wicketkeeper-batter Lauren Winfield-Hill is swapping Leeds for the capital in 2022.
The 31-year-old, who has played 100 times for England and currently represents Northern Diamonds on the domestic circuit, scored 118 runs and completed five dismissals for Northern Superchargers last season.
"It was a tough decision to leave Northern Superchargers but I'm really excited to be joining Oval Invincibles. The team set the standard and I can't wait to hopefully help the side defend their crown," she said.
"Watching The Hundred get off to such amazing start at The Kia Oval last year was pretty special and I’m really looking forward to playing in front of those wonderful fans in what should be another exciting summer for women’s cricket."
South East Stars batter Aylish Cranstone, formerly of London Spirit, and Southern Viper Emily Windsor (Trent Rockets) have also joined the Invincibles from elsewhere, while Eva Gray has been re-signed.
Kira Chathli, South East Stars’ 22-year-old wicketkeeper-batter, earns a first Hundred contract.

After purging their squad in February, Trent Rockets made space for an influx of international stars and boy, have they delivered.
Australian captain Meg Lanning and star spinner Alana King headline the overseas recruits while South African batter Mignon du Preez will also don yellow in 2022.
Lanning was due to represent Welsh Fire in 2021 before making herself unavailable while du Preez turned out for Manchester Originals, scoring 118 runs. For King, however, this contact represents the latest step in her meteoric rise over the past six months. A T20 regular, the 26-year-old has taken 71 wickets in the format to date.
Trent Rockets’ other signings are regulars from the domestic circuit, including South East Stars’ Charlotte Edwards Cup-winning captain Bryony Smith, batter Marie Kelly, Lightning bowler Sophie Munro and Georgia Davis – the latter re-signed from last year.
Munro took three wickets in five appearances for London Spirit while Smith scored 137 runs at a strike rate of 115.12 for Welsh Fire. Kelly arrives from Birmingham Phoenix, for whom she made one appearance.
17-year-old medium-pacer Alexa Stonehouse was their final selection.

Birmingham Phoenix finished third in 2021 and have added just two players to their squad in Sophie Molineux and Sterre Kalis.
Australian international Molineux, who was due to represent Trent Rockets in 2021, is a left-arm spinner with 38 international caps to her name. Across her T20 career, the 24-year-old has taken 93 wickets in 114 appearances.
Molinuex said: "I’m super excited to be joining the Phoenix this summer and grateful for the opportunity to be involved in a wonderful tournament! The girls got off to a flyer last summer, the Edgbaston crowds were amazing, and I’m just so pumped to be part of it!"
Kalis, meanwhile, is a Netherlands international and regular batter for Northern Diamonds on the domestic circuit. She represented Northern Superchargers in 2021, scoring 19 runs in one outing.
In addition to their two new signings, Birmingham Phoenix are also expecting Australian World Cup winner Ellyse Perry and New Zealand captain Sophie Devine to be available this season.
Squad: Amy Jones, Eve Jones, Kirstie Gordon, Issy Wong, Emily Arlott, Georgia Elwiss, Gwen Davies, Abtaha Maqsood, Phoebe Franklin, Ria Fackrell, Sophie Devine, Ellyse Perry, Sterre Kalis, Sophie Molineux

Southern Brave, who lost just twice last season – once in the group stage and again in the final, have added Tahlia McGrath to their already star-studded squad.
McGrath is a powerful middle-order batter and handy medium-pacer and as well as picking up a World Cup medal earlier this month, also lit up the 2021 WBBL, scoring 338 runs and taking 12 wickets for Adelaide Strikers.
Jo Gardner and Georgia Adams join Southern Brave from Oval Invincibles. The former was hardly needed with the bat last season, scoring just 25 runs, but is a reliable striker while Adams is a handy top-order hitter. She scored 133 runs for the Invincibles.
Adams said: "The first year of The Hundred was a gamechanger for the women’s game and I’m thrilled to be at Southern Brave this year. It wasn’t an easy decision to leave Oval Invincibles but I can’t wait to experience the atmosphere at the Ageas Bowl and hopefully I can make it two wins in a row!"
Southern Vipers duo Freya Kemp, a seam bowler, and Ella McCaughan, a top order batter and leg-spinner, have also joined last season’s runners-up.
Squad: Smriti Mandhana, Amanda-Jade Wellington, Danni Wyatt, Sophia Dunkley, Anya Shrubsole, Maia Bouchier, Lauren Bell, Tara Norris, Carla Rudd, Paige Scholfield, Tahlia McGrath, Jo Gardner, Georgia Adams, Freya Kemp, Ella McCaughan
