Theakston Player of the Round: Gregory Davis (Cookham Dean)
When Gregory Davis walked out to bat against White Waltham, his side were beginning to wobble in their Voneus Village Cup regional final. After a bright start from second-wicket pair Sohil Mangat and Shahzad Asghar, Cookham Dean had slipped from 72 for 1 to 72 for 4.
When he departed 10 overs later – caught by Umar Butt off Cloudesley Long – the Berkshire side were flying on 185 for 6 and eventually set their hosts a target of 221 to win.
Davis blasted 62 runs, including six fours and three sixes, off just 31 balls and shared a 96-run sixth-wicket stand off just 44 balls with teenage wicketkeeper Alfie Agar. He later made two vital contributions in the field to cement his status at the Theakston Player of the Round for round four.

Elsewhere…
There are just four former champions – Calmore, Cleator, Valley End and Goatacre (who smashed Winsley by 237 runs in round four) – remaining in the competition following exits for Ynystawe, Folkton & Flixton, and Houghton Main. The latter, who reached the quarter-finals in 2021, lost to Ackworth by four wickets despite a century from opener Brent Law.
Dumbleton chased down 143 in 15.5 overs to crush Hagley by 10 wickets and capture the Worcestershire crown while 2020 finalists Redbourn remain in the hunt for their maiden title after defeating Wheathampstead by 59 runs in Beds & Herts.
Around a dozen fixtures dodged the rain on June 5, with debutants Rainford, Scottish champions Meigle, and 2021 semi-finalists Stoke Green among those to secure a place in the national round.
Wolviston’s Shoaib Khan produced the best figures of the round, taking 6 for 31 against Stocksfield, while Tom Collins’ 102 not out for Carlton Towers against 2021 North Yorkshire (South) champions Patrington was the highest individual knock.
