Umesh Yadav returns for India, third Test squad confirmed

The 33-year old fast bowler missed the first two Tests with a calf injury but is back in contention for the third Test in Ahmedabad

Umesh Yadav has returned to the India squad ahead of the third and fourth Tests against England in Ahmedabad after passing a fitness test on Saturday.

The 33-year old fast bowler, who has 148 wicket in 48 appearances for India, missed the first two Tests in Chennai with a calf injury. Yadav took four wickets in two matches during India's victorious tour of Australia at an average of 33.25.

Shardul Thakur is the only other change to the Indian squad. The 29-year old has been released to play in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Shubman Gill is fit for the third Test following precautionary x-rays after injuring his left forearm while fielding during the second Test.

Meanwhile, bowler Jasprit Bumrah is back in contention after being rested for the second match in Chennai. The fast bowler could be recalled as an added pace option with the pink ball in place of Kuldeep Yadav.
