Fundraising Hero nominees:

Steven Parker – Shotley Bridge CC

Steven is a club legend, from his playing days as a wicketkeeper to now being the club’s social media manager. He has driven this small cricket club social pages from zero to over pages reaching over 100,000 people every 90 days.

His dedication to advertising games, team sheets and events at the club have driven the clubs revenue up tenfold which has led us to being able to invest money back into junior cricket and club facilities.

The great social media presence has also helped us develop a sponsorship platform which has brought vital money into the club to help us run and develop and add extra facilities, such as paying for Sky Sports.

Simon Rice - Torquay and Kingskerswell CC

“Ricey” has the club running through his blood. as been Club Treasurer for more years than anyone likes to remember.

His cricketing son might have flown the nest years ago but that hasn’t stopped Ricey from keeping T&K CC financially on the straight and narrow while promoting EDI within local cricket.

One thing he excels at is thinking outside the box when it comes to income sources which as a result frees up the usual grants for those clubs who are unable to access such avenues.

Lisa Dwerryhouse – Ammanford CC

Lisa's quiet determination and passion for the game has seen the development of a thriving women’s and girls’ section at the club and via a number of innovative ideas has made sure that cricket is accessible for all in a community with high levels of deprivation.

She founded the women’s team in August 2023 with eight players but now sees more than 25 training and playing regularly, and also serves as coach, umpire and scorer for the girls’ U12 team.

Funds raised from her annual quiz night ensure that the women do not have to contribute to the costs of winter training or entering the indoor league. No training or match fees are levied as a result of fundraising efforts.
