Wicketkeeper-batter Abbey Freeborn played for Sussex and Yorkshire before joining Loughborough Lightning (then in the Kia Super League) in 2019.
In 2020, she was Lightning's second-highest run-scorer in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy before topping the club's T20 run-scoring charts 12 months later, scoring 161 runs.
Freeborn moved to Sparks in 2022, with Marie Kelly heading in the opposite direction, and made an immediate impression in the West Midlands, scoring a team-leading 227 runs in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy, including 28 boundaries, and a further 163 runs (98.78 strike rate) in the Charlotte Edwards Cup. In Amy Jones' absence, she established herself as Sparks' go-to wicketkeeper and is known around the circuit for her fast hands.
Across her career, Freeborn has also represented England A (against New Zealand) and Trent Rockets.
