England bowler Kate Cross was taken to hospital after injuring herself in the warm-up ahead of her side’s 46-run win against West Indies.

The seamer was stretchered off the field just as the toss was about to take place at the Sydney Showground Stadium. She will undergo further scans on Monday morning.

“She landed on the sponge and heard a huge crack,” England spinner Alex Hartley said, while commentating on Test Match Special.

“She's sent me a photo of her, still on gas and air at the hospital but she's got her thumbs up.”

She returned to the ground in time to join her teammates in the dressing room - albeit on crutches - after their victory, which sees them through to the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup.

Cross is the only member of the 15-strong squad yet to either bat or bowl since England touched down in Australia.

Her last international action came in the final T20I against Pakistan in December.
