WOMEN'S ONE DAY CUP ROUNDUP: Somerset's win over Bears was in vain, while overnight rain at Arundel gave Hampshire the result they needed to confirm a home semi-final
Chester-le-Street: Surrey 290-7, Durham 138 - Surrey won by 86 runs (DLS)
A fine career best 68 off 63 balls from teenager Jemima Spence in only her second senior innings of 2025 featured in a rainy Surrey win as they confirmed their Metro Bank One Day Cup semi-final place at the expense of Durham at the Banks Homes Riverside.
Surrey sealed a fourth-placed finish – a position they held at the start of the day with a three-point advantage – and prevented either Durham or fellow chasers Somerset from leapfrogging them, winning by 86 runs DLS.
Nineteen-year-old Spence, batting at No.6, shared a 112 partnership for the fifth wicket with England’s Alice Davidson-Richards, who also contributed an unbeaten 65 off 61 to Surrey's commanding 290 for 7 from 48 overs.
The third rain delay came with Durham 14 for 1 in the third over chasing a revised 276 in 41. The target was further revised to an overall 225 in 29, and the hosts were bowled out for 138 inside 23 overs. Davidson-Richards added two wickets with her seam.
Blast champions Surrey will travel to face table-toppers Hampshire in the semis on Wednesday (September 17).

Chelmsford: Essex 211, The Blaze 59-0 - The Blaze won by 35 runs (DLS)
Orla Prendergast led the wickets charge as The Blaze won a rain-affected encounter with Essex at Chelmsford to book a home semi-final at Trent Bridge.
Prendergast took 3 for 43, including a momentum-shifting double strike to help bowl out the hosts for 211. Her efforts were ably supported by Lucy Higham's 2 for 33 and some outstanding out fielding, typified by Kathryn Bryce's runout of Ariana Dowse.
Six of Essex's batters reached double figures, but only Sophia Smale (41) got beyond 40, Jo Gardner making a run-a-ball 36. The pair added 52 for the seventh wicket after the hosts collapsed from 104 for 2 to 133 for 6.
Blaze openers Sarah Bryce (33 not out) and Georgie Boyce had knocked 59 off the target in 11.2 overs when the weather closed in.

Arundel: Hampshire, Lancashire - no result
Heavy overnight rain and persistent morning showers caused the abandonment of the final group game between Hampshire and Lancashire, in the Metro Bank One-Day Cup women's competition, at Arundel. The umpires called off the match shortly after 10am due to a waterlogged outfield.
The no-result confirms Hampshire's position as table-toppers and a home semi-final on Wednesday (September 17). Their opponents will either be Lancashire or The Blaze, depending on the result of today's match between Essex and The Blaze at Chelmsford.
Taunton: Bears 175, Somerset 176-6 - Somerset won by four wickets
Dani Gibson's no-nonsense fifty from 30 balls propelled Somerset to a bonus point four-wicket victory over Warwickshire in a one-sided Metro Bank One Day Cup contest at the Cooper Associates Ground, Taunton.
Back to her scintillating best after injury, the Bristolian smashed six fours and two sixes and dominated a match-winning stand of 78 from 57 balls with Fran Wilson as the west-country side chased down a victory target of 176 with 22.5 overs to spare. Wilson contributed a brisk 47 not out from 45 balls, while Niamh Holland and Bex Odgers weighed in with 38 and 35 respectively, staging an opening stand of 64 as Somerset won their final group game with something to spare. The pick of the Warwickshire bowlers, Hannah Baker returned figures of 3 for 44 in a losing cause.
Struggling to find fluency with the bat, Warwickshire had earlier been dismissed for 175 in 41 overs after being put in on a green-tinged pitch. Somerset missed out, though, on a semi-final berth.
