Hansima Karunaratne made her T20I debut against India in February 2016 and has made 11 T20I appearances up until January 30, 2020.

Although she is considered an allrounder, she is more accomplished with her batting and heads into the upcoming T20 World Cup off the back of some strong form in 2019.

In Sri Lanka’s T20I series against England last March, she scored 73 runs at an average of 36.5 with a high score of 44 not out. This was very impressive against an England side that made the final of the 2018 T20 World Cup.

She also put some promising performances in against Australia in September-October 2019.

In her first 11 T20Is, she scored 115 runs at an average of 14.37 with a high score of 44 not out.

Despite not yet taking her first wicket in T20I cricket, her economy rate of 6.85 is impressive especially when considering the opposition that Sri Lanka have faced in T20Is in recent times.

She will look to build on her performances from the recent T20I series against Australia and she will hope to use her experience playing in Australia to her advantage.
