Role: Right-arm medium

Ayabonga Khaka is one of South Africa’s most talented medium pace bowlers and has made 78 appearances, including 21 T20Is, up to January 20, 2020.

Khaka made her T20I debut against Bangladesh in 2012, and has best figures of 4-23 with 20 wickets so far in her T20I career.

Khaka has also had a very successful ODI career so far and in May 2018 she took her 50th ODI wicket in the series against Bangladesh.

In her 57 ODIs she has taken 67 wickets at an economy rate of 4.17 and with best figures of 3-13.

Khaka’s success in ODIs led to her breaking into the top 10 of the ICC ODI Bowling Rankings, claiming eighth position in May 2018 following some strong performances against Bangladesh.

Khaka’s ability to keep the run rate down and be a consistent wicket-taker led her to receive one of the 14 national contracts by Cricket South Africa ahead of the 2018-19 season.

Her string of good performances led her to be named in the F van der Merwe XI squad for the inaugural edition of the Women’s T20 Super League in South Africa.

Khaka will now want to take her strong ODI form into the T20 World Cup and contribute to a successful tournament campaign.
