Abu Hider has only a handful of ODI appearances to his name, but he is highly thought of by the Bangladesh selectors because of his ability to bowl with genuine pace.
Early signs of Hider’s talent came at under-19 level when he took nine wickets in an ACC Trophy one-day game in 2012 but it was his 2015 BPL stint with Comilla Victorians that really forced people to sit up and take notice.
Twenty-one wickets in 12 matches made Hider the second-highest wicket taker in the competition as his franchise won the final by three wickets with Hider utilising his speed and yorkers with great effectiveness.
A T20I debut for Bangladesh soon followed and, two years later in 2018, so did his ODI debut. Hider is yet to reproduce his domestic exploits on the international stage but, having only just turned 23, he still has plenty of time to deliver.
