“Apollo is a refinement of the Jumbo, designed by Stuart Surridge and made famous by players like Viv Richards and Clive Rice. The old Jumbo had an elongated spine, going up the centre of the bat towards the handle, and then cut away sharply at the bottom of the splice.
“But many people found this bat too heavy, so the spine has been lowered and sloped towards the handle end of the bat. It still has its enlarged sweet spot of old but has a lighter scale weight.” - John Surridge
