The National Village Cup final at Lord's between Houghton Main CC (Yorks) and Reed CC (Herts) provided a fitting finale to a pulsating summer of cricket for both the professional and the amateur game. Reed CC eventually triumphing in glorious autumn sunshine by seven wickets, making it a third trophy for the club in seven years, having previously won in 2012 and 2017.

The Cricketer has run the competition since its inception in 1972 and is now seeking a headline sponsor to support this wonderful tournament. The competition reaches more than 10 million people in the UK, with the later rounds enjoying coverage from the BBC and Sky Sports complimenting its own coverage via a dedicated website and social media channel.

The National Village Cup final 2018

Each year, the finalists will have successfully battled through eight nail-biting rounds across the country to make it to Lord's. No other sport offers this 'Roy of the Rovers' opportunity to the grassroots level of their game. The final is given the same billing as international cricket by MCC and both teams are treated to an incredible day on the field. After the final, a Long Room dinner is laid on for players and sponsors, capping an unforgettable experience at the Home of Cricket.

Headline sponsorship comes with a comprehensive bundle of assets including naming rights. The sponsor can shape their marketing and activation strategy with the help of The Cricketer team who will assist in delivering a campaign that engages with the very heart of village communities throughout the year.

Previous headline sponsors have included Yorkshire Tea, npower and Wadworth Brewery.
