Hove will be given extra time to recover from damage to the outfield caused by leatherjacket larvae
No outground matches for Sussex
Sussex appoint former England international Sarah Taylor and Ashley Wright to coaching staff
Sussex and Lancashire's County Championship opener has been shifted to Emirates Old Trafford.
The season was due to kick-off at Hove from April 8-11.
But the damage to the outfield caused by leatherjacket larvae has led to the move.
Concerns first surfaced earlier this month but Sussex insisted they were "making good progress" in ensuring the ground would be ready for the game.
However, an inspection carried out by the ECB's pitch and grounds advisor Andy Mackay has forced the decision. Sussex have continued to make progress but the decision was taken to allow the outfield extra time to recuperate.
Both sides will therefore kick-off their campaign at Old Trafford.
The reverse fixture will take place as scheduled between April 29-May 2, but on the south coast.
The clashes will be played behind closed doors, with fans not permitted to return to grounds until May 17 at the earliest.
Hove will now host its first match of the season when Sussex welcome Yorkshire on April 22-25.
