After seven consecutive white-ball defeats, Thisara Perera starred in this victory in Dhaka
Thisara Perera starred for Sri Lanka in the five-wicket win over Zimbabwe
Sri Lanka ended a run of seven straight white-ball defeats with their first win of 2018, as the senior players stepped up against Zimbabwe.
Thisara Perera claimed four wickets and added an unbeaten 39, while Dinesh Chandimal and Kusal Perera also played important roles with the bat, as Sri Lanka eased past their 199-run target with five wickets and 31 balls to spare in Dhaka.
Having lost to both Bangladesh and the Zimbabweans already in this Tri Series, Sri Lanka found their feet early on thanks to Perera's early burst.
Zimbabwe reached 44 without loss in the 10th over but were 56 for three just 21 balls later, and never really recovered.
Perera claimed each of the first four wickets to fall, three of which came courtesy of catches from Upul Tharanga, while Nuwan Pradeep cleaned up the tail as Zimbabwe were skittled for 198 well inside their allocated 50 overs.
In reply, Tharanga and Niroshan Dickwella went cheaply but Sri Lanka had enough strength in their batting line-up to get the job done.
Kusal Perera was dismissed one run short of his half-century, while his namesake, Chandimal and Kusal Mendis all posted scores in the 30s to see their side home in the 45th over.
