AB De Villiers has a knee injury

South Africa will be without AB De Villiers for the rest of their T20 series against India.

De Villiers is struggling with a knee injury, which he exacerbated during the one-day international campaign, and although he played the fourth, fifth and sixth 50-over games he will not be risked in the shortest format.

"He suffered a blow to the knee while batting ahead of the fifth ODI, and although he passed a fitness test on Friday, the injury worsened significantly throughout the match," South Africa's team manager Mohammed Moosajee said.

The selectors have not named a replacement for the two matches which remain.

Centurion will host the second clash on Wednesday, with the final game of the series due to be staged in Cape Town on Saturday.

India won the first installment by 28 runs on Sunday, restricting South Africa to 175 for nine in pursuit of 203.
