AB De Villiers has picked up a finger injury
South Africa have been dealt a blow ahead of the upcoming one-day international series with India with the news that AB De Villiers has been sidelined with a finger injury.
De Villiers picked up the problem in his right index finger during the recent third Test match against the same opponents at The Wanderers, with South Africa saying their player will need around two weeks to fully recover.
A statement from Cricket South Africa read: "The CSA medical team is hopeful De Villiers will recover in time for the fourth Pink ODI at the Bidvest Wanderers Stadium on Saturday, February 10th."
However, the former captain is expected to miss at least the first three matches of the series against the Indians, which begins in Kingsmead on Thursday.
The selectors have opted not to name a replacement for De Villiers.
