Scorecard

Paarl Royals returned to winning ways with a tight 10-run victory over Durban Super Giants.

The Royals have struggled for consistency in the early rounds of the SA20, alternating between losing and winning in their opening three matches, but climbed into second place following Tuesday's win.

Batting first, the home side lost Jason Roy inside three overs before a 53-run third-wicket stand off 35 balls between Jos Buttler and Wihan Lubbe restored their foothold in the game.

Following Buttler's departure in the ninth over, stumped off Keshav Maharaj's bowling for 35, Lubbe enjoyed productive stands with Dane Vilas and David Miller before being bowled by Reece Topley for 57 (36) in the 16th: 131 for 4.

The Royals added a further 38 runs off the final four overs, closing on 169 for 6. Dwaine Pretorius picked up 2 for 35 while the remaining wickets were shared around the attack.

In reply, Durban Super Giants made a poor start to their chase, losing Kyle Mayers, Quinton de Kock and Pretorius to Bjorn Fortuin (3 for 14) inside five overs to slip to 29 for 3.

From this point, wickets continued to fall at regular intervals, with Evan Jones (4 for 32) doing the damage to the middle order.

And despite the best efforts of Heinrich Klaasen, who finished unbeaten on 56 (39) – his second consecutive half-century, the Super Giants couldn't get over the line, finishing on 159 for 8.
