Multan Sultans look in good shape to bounce back from their defeat at the hands of high-flying Quetta Gladiators when they take on Lahore Qalandars on Friday.

Multan sit in third after three matches despite their eight-wicket loss to Quetta Gladiators on Wednesday, but could drop to fourth if Karachi Kings win their game against Peshawar Zalmi.

Lahore are at the foot of the table having lost to Peshawar by seven wickets in a match where they were bowled out for just 78 – the lowest total of the tournament so far and the second-lowest total in PSL history.

The Sultans may have lost rather comfortably to Quetta, but will take heart from the performance of captain Shoaib Malik who scored his second half-century of the tournament.

There was also a good debut for England international James Vince at the top of the order who scored a quick 28 to get the Sultans innings off to a solid start.

Lahore will be without captain Mohammad Hafeez who has been ruled out for the remainder of the tournament after suffering a thumb injury against Peshawar.

He has been replaced by former Pakistan captain Salman Butt, and Multan will be hoping allrounders Dan Christian and Andre Russell can put in improved performances to take advantage of this change in personnel.
