Mitchell Marsh is the new Perth Scorchers captain

Mitchell Marsh has been appointed as the new captain of Perth Scorchers for 2018-19.

The Australia allrounder steps up to replace Adam Voges, who has taken on the position of coach after Justin Langer joined the national team.

Marsh leads a squad which includes Cameron Bancroft, one of the Australia internationals currently serving a lengthy ban for ball-tampering.

Bancroft's nine-month suspension is up during the tournament and he is reportedly set for a Big Bash return on December 30 against Hobart Hurricanes.

David Willey is thus far the only overseas signing in the Scorchers' ranks.

Voges said of his squad: "To retain our core group of players has been really important for us and we're pleased everyone has decided to stay.

"With WA (Western Australia) having such a strong presence in the Australian white ball teams it means a lot of our younger players will get more opportunities for the Scorchers, and many of those guys played for us last summer so I'm excited for them to build on that experience.

"We have wanted to be consistent with our squads across all three formats, so naming Mitch as captain was a good fit. He's an exciting leader and I'm sure the Scorchers fans are going to be happy."

I wish Mitchell Marsh can stay being captain in BBL 2020! I will be so happy to see him playing! I also wish him to be back IPL 2020! I'm missing him already since Sunrisers Hyderabad is my favorite team. Although, I'm not Indian, I'm Pakistani!
