Hampshire have confirmed Keith Barker has signed a new contract with the club.

The 33-year-old is contracted until the end of this season, but an extension has already been agreed for an undisclosed period.

Barker joined from Warwickshire in 2019 and took 37 wickets in 13 Division One County Championship matches, at an average of 26.59.

"I’m really pleased to extend my contract with Hampshire," said Barker.

"It’s a great club to be a part of and we’re certainly heading in the right direction to challenge for all three trophies in the coming years.

Director of cricket Giles White, whose side have already added Nathan Lyon to their arsenal for the new campaign, added: "We couldn’t be happier with how Keith has settled in here at Hampshire and we’re delighted he’s signed an extension.

"He’s a consistent performer and an important cog in our bowling attack with the skill set that he has, and he also adds important runs lower down in the order too so he contributes in all areas.

"He’s also been particularly good with the younger players as a senior figure and is someone who is great around the club, giving his all off the field as well as on it - he’s a key part of our team moving forward."
