England and Yorkshire's Jonny Bairstow is hopeful the upcoming summer allows all formats to be possible despite the coronavirus pandemic leading to the campaign being delayed.

The ECB have stated no professional cricket will take place until May 28 and are forming contingency plans in the event the season can start later in the summer.

Internationals, the T20 Blast and the inaugural season of The Hundred will be prioritised meaning the County Championship and the One-Day Cup are likely to be sacrificed.

But Bairstow, who was set for a busy summer with England, Yorkshire and Welsh Fire, wants to see all four domestic formats retained as part of a revised schedule.

"We hope it isn't cancelled," Bairstow told Sky Sports regarding the new season. "We hope that we are playing all formats. As much as the scheduling can help no-one wants to see a competition go.

"That will be up to the ECB. I am sure they'll have everything in place to make the correct decision for the health of the sport."

Bairstow's next assignment is due to be the Indian Premier League, during which he is due to represent Sunrisers Hyderabad.

The 13th edition of the competition has already been pushed back until April 15 - the day after a nationwide lockdown is due to expire.

"We won't learn too much about what is going to happen with the IPL until after that (the lockdown)," stated the 30-year-old.

"There will probably be a quarantine period. There was talk of only playing one round of games.

"If they are going to do that is that going to be in one city or two cities? Who knows.

"You've got to hope at some stage we will be playing, whether that be IPL or the county season this summer."
