Worcestershire's Pat Brown, Somerset batsman Tom Banton and Lancashire's Matthew Parkinson and Saqib Mahmood all receive their maiden ODI call-ups
England have named 16-man squads for both their three-match one-day international series and three-match T20I series against South Africa.
Worcestershire’s Pat Brown, Somerset batsman Tom Banton and Lancashire’s Matthew Parkinson and Saqib Mahmood all receive their maiden ODI call-ups.
Jofra Archer, Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes, and Mark Wood will be rested in the 50-over format but all feature in the T20 squad.
Banton, Sam Billings, Lewis Gregory, Mahmood and James Vince all featured in New Zealand but have not been included in the T20 squa and there's no place for Test skipper Joe Root.
National selector Ed Smith, stated that the squads have been elected with next year’s T20 World Cup in Australia firmly in mind.
"These two squads were selected with an eye on the T20 World Cup in Australia in 2020,” said Smith.
“In the T20s, a number of players who were rested for the successful 3-2 victory in New Zealand return to the squad: Jos Buttler, Jofra Archer, Ben Stokes, Moeen Ali and Jason Roy.
“We want to expand the pool of players who can perform successfully for England, while also helping the team to peak for major tournaments."
