England have called up Sussex batsman Phil Salt as cover for the injured Dawid Malan ahead of Sunday's T20 international against Pakistan.

Salt, who averages 23.53 in T20 cricket over the course of his career and holds a strike rate of 151.50, has received his summons after Malan sustained a muscle injury during the ODI victory over Ireland in Dublin on Friday.

Malan pulled up during his innings in England's chase at Malahide and received on-pitch treatment for a problem with his left groin.

Although he batted on, the Middlesex captain has been withdrawn from selection consideration for the T20 at Cardiff.
