The seamer impressed during his first year at the club
Derbyshire seamer Ben Aitchison has signed a two-year contract extension, keeping him at the club until at least the end of 2022.
The 21-year-old initially signed for the club on a rookie deal for 2020 and impressed in the Bob Willis Trophy, claiming 3-55 on debut against Nottinghamshire.
Speaking of the contract extension, Aitchison said: “When I first joined the club, I talked about wanting to take any opportunities I was given, and I feel like I did well when I was selected this season.
“I love the setup here, and get on really well with the lads, so It’s really nice to know I’ll be able to grow and develop with them over the next two seasons.”
He showed promising signs against Yorkshire and Durham before his season was cut short by an ankle injury.
Derbyshire's head of cricket, Dave Houghton, added: “Ben showed real ability and was becoming a key component of our bowling attack before his injury, so we’re really pleased that he’s committed his future to Derbyshire.
“He’s a developing player, and we believe that through working closely with Steve Kirby, he could become an established player in our team for years to come.”
