Darren Bravo in line for first Test since 2016 after being named in West Indies squad to face England

Bravo has not featured for the West Indies since November 2016, after he posted a tweet about Cricket West Indies president Dave Cameron which called him a "big idiot"

The inclusion of Darren Bravo was the biggest talking point as the West Indies named their 13-man squad for their first Test against England, which starts on January 23.

Bravo has not featured for the West Indies since November 2016, after he posted a tweet about Cricket West Indies president Dave Cameron which read: “You have been failing 4 d last 4yrs. Y don’t u resign and FYI I’ve neva been given A contract. Big idiot.”

The disagreement stemmed from the fact that Bravo was offered a C-category contract by the organisation. Before being dropped, Bravo had played 49 Tests and currently sits on an average of 40.

The 29-year-old made his return to the West Indies ODI squad for their tour of Bangladesh in December 2018, and is now back in the Test squad.

They have also named uncapped John Campbell and Shamarh Brooks in the squad, while there will be no reconvening of the Marlon Samuels v Ben Stokes narrative as Samuels has been left out.

The last time England toured the Caribbean in 2015, Samuels saluted Stokes after he was dismissed in the second Test at Grenada.

Stokes later wrote in the Daily Mail that “I do not like him one bit”.

Full squad:

Jason Holder (C), Kraigg Brathwaite, Darren Bravo, Shamarh Brooks, John Campbell, Royston Chase, Shane Dowrich, Shannon Gabriel, Shimron Hetmyer, Shai Hope, Alzarri Joseph, Kemar Roach, Jomel Warrican (Oshane Thomas is in as cover for Joseph)
