Glamorgan have secured the services for Colin Ingram as an overseas player for two more years.

Previously a Kolpak player, the 35-year-old has committed to the club until the end of 2022.

Ingram first joined in 2015 but in recent years has played on a white-ball contract only, which included a spell as captain.

He missed the 2020 campaign due to travel restrictions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Despite having not played a first-class match for over three years, Ingram is an overseas reserve for Marnus Labuschagne if the Australian batsman is unable to feature for the club in next year's County Championship.

Due to the end of Kolpak deals, counties are permitted to field two overseas players in the Championship and One-Day Cup alongside the T20 Blast.

Along with Labuschange, seamer Michael Neser has already signed up for the 2021 campaign.

"I’m absolutely delighted to have signed this new deal with Glamorgan," said Ingram.

First-class counties expecting minimum £74.5m losses due to coronavirus pandemic

"Cardiff is where I want to be, I love playing here and my family love the city and being in Wales.

"I love playing T20 cricket, but I also want to challenge myself again in the longer formats of the game and I’m excited to have the opportunity to do that at the club I love."

Having not played a competitive cricket match since featuring for Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League, Ingram is gearing up for a return in the Big Bash League for Hobart Hurricanes.

Director of cricket Mark Wallace added: "Colin is a top-class player and a great person to have around the dressing room.

"He’s played around the world and brings invaluable experience to our players and now we are able to fully utilise these experiences across the pathway.

"Colin’s got plenty of experience in all three formats and has excelled for Glamorgan across the last five years, and he’ll be a fantastic reserve option should he be needed in the longer formats of the game."
