Veteran batsman Chris Gayle will feature in this year's Everest Premier League in Nepal after signing for Pokhara Rhinos.

The 40-year-old will make his first bow in the competition which gets underway on February 29.

Though the terms of Gayle's role have not been fully disclosed he could be available for just a handful of matches.

Gayle is due to represent Kings XI Punjab in the Indian Premier League which gets underway on March 29 - more than two weeks after the climax to the EPL - and his appearances will be scheduled accordingly.

"I will be visiting Nepal for the biggest sporting event, the Everest Premier League," Gayle, who recently revealed plans to play until he is 45, said in a video message on Twitter

"Come and support my team Pokhara Rhinos and be part of a magnificent cricket fiesta. Nepal, get ready for the Gayle-storm. It is going to be dashing."

Hashim Amla, Dwayne Smith, Upul Tharanga and Mohammad Shahzad have also been confirmed to appear during the six-team competition, but there is little doubt the prospect of Gayle's arrival is creating the most furore.

While the outing is another footnote on Gayle's gargantuan T20 franchise career, the EPL are looking to take full advantage of his spell.

"While he is here, we will make him visit iconic places in accessible locations and perhaps, make him tweet or post about it to promote Nepal all over the world," EPL managing director Aamir Akhtar said.
