Ben McDermott's wretched run of luck has continued after the Australian batsman was run out for a fourth consecutive innings.
McDermott, the batsman from Queensland who has recently broken into the national side, managed just two for a Cricket Australia XI against South Africa on Wednesday.
It follows a luckless streak during Australia's T20 international series against Pakistan in the UAE, where he was dismissed in the same fashion in all three matches.
The son of former Aussie international Craig said after that unusual episode that he "probably should" work on his running.
Ben McDermott was run out for a fourth innings in a row
"Not to get run out, for starters," was his initial response to being asked what lessons he had learned from his first stint in the national team.
As it happened, McDermott was unable to buck the trend but his dismissal against South Africa was hugely unfortunate.
Bowler Lungi Ngidi managed to get a finger on a Max Bryant straight drive, diverting the ball onto the stumps with McDermott out of his ground backing up.
South Africa won the game at Allan Border Field, racking up 201 for five from their 20 overs before restricting the Cricket Australia XI to 160 for seven to secure a 41-run victory.
You're kidding?! Ben McDermott has been run out again! This one may be the most unfortunate of his recent run, caught short at the non-striker's end!
