Dubai: Namibia 132-8, India 136-1 - India won by nine wickets

Scorecard

Pre-tournament favourites India drew a line under an otherwise disappointing men's T20 World Cup campaign by overcoming Namibia in Dubai.

Both sides were out of contention for a semi-final berth and an ultimately underwhelming and one-sided contest naturally followed.

Namibia put up a decent fight after being inserted, reaching 132 for 8 from their 20 overs.

David Wiese was once again the leading figure with the bat with 26 from 25 balls before he was snared by Jasprit Bumrah.

Spin pair Ravichandran Ashwin (3 for 20) and Ravindra Jadeja (3 for 16) did most of the damage with the ball.

Ruben Trumpelmann (13*) signed off a decent tournament with the bat with a six and four off Mohammed Shami's final over to ensure a respectable target was set.

Ravi Shastri, appointed in 2017, will be replaced by Rahul Dravid

KL Rahul (54*) and Rohit Sharma played with the kind of freedom India refrained from deploying earlier in the competition and both reached their half-century with aplomb.

The first wicket stand of 86 was only broken when Jan Frylinck caught Sharma's edge via a slower delivery for 56.

Suryakumar Yadav came to the crease, ahead of Virat Kohli who is stepping down as T20I skipper after the tournament, and smashed an unbeaten 25 to help secure victory by nine wickets with 28 balls to spare.

The match also marked the end of Ravi Shastri's tenure as head coach, with Rahul Dravid confirmed to take over the men's team.
