Where is the match being played?

Every game in the 2021 Caribbean Premier League is being held at Warner Park on St Kitts, in an effort to minimise the Covid-19 risk to the tournament.

Who’s got the form?

Barbados Royals are rooted to the bottom of the CPL table and are destined to finish 2021 in sixth position. The Royals have won just twice in nine matches to date and are playing for pride in their final match of the season.

St Lucia Kings, however, have it all to play for. Just four points separate first and fifth position heading into the final round of fixtures and the Kings are fourth, level on points with Trinbago and Guyana and two clear of Jamaica Tallawahs. They require a win to assure playoff qualification owing to their poor net run rate. Otherwise, they will need Guyana to defeat the Tallawahs.

Fortunately for the Kings, they head into the match with winning momentum after defeating the Royals by 15 runs (DLS) on Saturday and have now won four of their previous six matches.

Who to watch?

St Lucia's overseas stars came to the rescue in the penultimate fixture, with Faf du Plessis smashing 84 runs from just 54 balls and David Wiese collecting 5 for 25 with the ball. And it's the former who could make the difference in this crucial match.

Unfortunately, the South African has blown hot and cold for the Kings this season. He posted a career high-score of 120 against the Patriots but has only passed 30 on one other occasion in nine matches. However, du Plessis, ranked 43rd on the T20 Player Index, is one of only two Kings players to pass 50 more than once this season - the other is Roston Chase - and his innings could determine St Lucia's fate.

Hayden Walsh provided some lower-order resistance for the Royals in their previous outing, scoring 30 runs off 18 balls to go with his impressive bowling figures of 1 for 25. This should give Royals fans hope that if their top order falters once again, they may still be in with a chance of chasing, or setting, a competitive total.

With the ball, it's all down to Mohammad Amir, who has taken a team-leading 11 wickets and bowled with an economy of 6.12. In his second match of the season, the Pakistan international took 3 for 21 against Trinbago and if he can recreate that form against St Lucia, his side may leave CPL 2021 with a bang rather than a whimper.
