Every game in the 2021 Caribbean Premier League is being held at Warner Park on St Kitts, in an effort to minimise the Covid-19 risk to the tournament.
Both teams have had varying success throughout the tournament and are coming into this last round of fixtures with it all to play for after a crucial contest against each other last night.
Guyana Amazon Warriors posted a par score of 169 for 6 and bundle out Jamaican Tallawahs for 123 in 19.1 overs. This put a massive dent in the play-off hopes of the Tallawahs with the competition culminating in a winner takes all game between these two. Due to their superior run rate, the Tallawahs, despite only drawing level on points with the Amazon Warriors if they win, will snatch the final playoff spot.
However, after last night the momentum is firmly with the Amazon Warriors and the Tallawahs will have to be at their absolute best to guarantee the spot in the eliminator.
For the Tallawahs, Kennar Lewis has had a breakthrough year with the bat. He has blasted 259 runs at a mesmerising strike rate of 168.18. He will have to step up once again in this game to ensure that his side is in with a chance of qualifying.
In the bowling department, South African overseas Migael Pretorious has had a blistering debut year in the CPL. His 16 wickets are second only to the recently rejuvenated Ravi Rampaul. Pretorious is provided back up with the ball by superstar all-rounder Andre Russell, ranked 4th on the T20 players index, who has taken nine wickets to date.
Guyana Amazon Warriors have been bolstered by the form of Nicholas Pooran who is easily one of the most destructive batsmen in world cricket on his day. He has 228 runs in the competition and is ranked 44th on the T20 players index.
With the ball, Romario Shepherd and Odean Smith have been exceptional when bowling in tandem and share 28 wickets between them. Shepherd has been the most impressive of the two with a staggering average of 12.86 and an equally impressive strike rate of 10.40.
