Lord Kamlesh Patel has been appointed as the new interim chair of Yorkshire, while two more board members have tendered their resignations.

Lord Patel, who previously sat on the ECB board and chaired the national governing body's South Asian Advisory Group, assumes the role after Roger Hutton stepped down on Friday.

Hanif Malik and Stephen Willis have also resigned, following an emergency board meeting on Friday. Another board member, Neil Hartley, will stand down once the transition to new leadership is complete.

Chief executive Mark Arthur and director of cricket Martyn Moxon, both of whom sit on the board, were not mentioned in a statement by Yorkshire on Friday afternoon, despite being advised to quit by Hutton.

Yorkshire has seen three resignations from its board in six hours

Patel has a significant task on his hands rehabilitating the club's image, restoring trust with its supporters and wider society, convincing the ECB to restore its status as an international venue, and most importantly making substantial strides in its relationship with the ethnic minority community in its region.

He said: "I’m looking forward to taking this club forward and driving the change that is needed.

"The club needs to learn from its past errors, regain trust and rebuild relationships with our communities.

"There is much work to do, including reading the panel’s report, so we can begin the process of learning from our past mistakes.

"Yorkshire is lucky to have a vast talent pool of cricketers, and passionate supporters, from all of our communities and we must re-engage with everyone to make a better Yorkshire County Cricket Club for everyone."
