Scorecard

Alice Capsey was the star of the show as Melbourne Stars kept their WBBL knockout hopes alive with a four-wicket win over Hobart Hurricanes.

England international Capsey smashed an eye-catching 80 not out from just 52 balls - including five sixes - to guide the Stars to victory with five balls to spare in Latrobe.

The teenager kept her nerve with her side requiring 18 from the final 11 deliveries of the chase, hitting Nicola Carey for back-to-back sixes, the first high and handsome over wide long-off and the second a stunning sweep over midwicket, before glancing the first ball of the last over for four to seal the win.

It was a one-woman tour de force, with only one other Stars batter - Annabel Sutherland (25 off 30 balls) - passing 12.

Earlier, Carey had top-scored for Hobart (31 off 33) but the Hurricanes struggled for rhythm.

Sutherland was impressive with the ball, claiming figures of 3 for 18 from her four overs, which included the scalps of Carey and Rachel Trenaman.

Stars' fourth win of the season still leaves them with a steep climb to reach the playoffs. Hobart are third, three points behind Brisbane Heat.
