Craig Miles has signed a two-year contract extension with Warwickshire to keep him at Edgbaston until at least the end of the 2023 season.

The 26-year-old fast bowler has taken 31 wickets in 11 first-class appearances since joining Warwickshire in 2019.

Miles has made three appearances in the LV= Insurance County Championship this season, scoring 61 runs and taking 10 wickets at an average of 25.5, and was instrumental in Warwickshire’s seven-wicket win over Essex. The seamer scored 25 runs as part of a 66-run ninth-wicket stand with Danny Briggs and took 4 for 70, including the wickets of Nick Browne and Tom Westley, in Essex’s second innings.

Since making his first-class debut for Gloucestershire in 2011, Miles has taken 286 wickets and scored 1,508 runs. He also has 59 wickets in 50 career white-ball appearances.

Commenting on his extension, Miles said: "I’m over the moon to put pen to paper and know that I will remain a Bear for the foreseeable future.

"It was a big decision for me to join Warwickshire, but I wanted to challenge myself in a new squad and in an unfamiliar environment to help me improve as a cricketer. I now feel as though everything is coming together nicely, in being part of a squad with huge potential, with age and experience on our side, but also being very settled in my new home of Birmingham.

"Working closely with Graeme Welch over the last two and a half years has been fantastic and it’s great that there’s such strong competition for places in the bowling ranks. I’ve also thoroughly enjoyed working with Mark Robinson and it’s a very exciting time ahead for all of us at Edgbaston."

Meanwhile, Warwickshire's director of cricket, Paul Farbrace, added: "Craig has worked incredibly hard over the winter months and he has shown a huge amount of determination to force his way back into the first team for the opening games of the Championship season.

"He played a big role in our win over Essex and only injury kept him out of selection for the most recent match with Worcestershire.

"All of the cricket management team think very highly of Craig, in that he offers a huge amount with the ball, he is a very capable batsman, and he is an excellent athlete who makes a big impact in the field. We’re delighted to secure his future here at Edgbaston."
