Leicestershire Foxes kept themselves in the race for a quarter-final spot in the T20 Blast after defeating Northamptonshire Steelbacks by six wickets with 23 balls to spare to go fourth in the North Group, moving ahead of their opponents, who remain in contention despite losing five matches in a row.
Rehan Ahmed was the Foxes' match-winner with an unbeaten 52 off 30 balls after Sol Budinger had hit 40 off 22, pace bowler George Scrimshaw taking 3 for 33 for the Steelbacks.
Josh Thomas, a 20-year-old left-arm spinner on a short-term loan from Somerset, took 2 for 32 on his Blast debut, with two wickets each from Logan Van Beek and Josh Hull as the Steelbacks made 171 for 7, led by Ravi Bopara with 53 from 40 balls.
Saif Zaib made 30 off 18 balls and skipper David Willey 27 off 18, the visitors' innings swelled by Luke Procter (22 from 17) and Ben Sanderson adding 42 unbroken after a collapse from 106 for 2 to 129 for 7 on what looked a good pitch.

Derby: Worcestershire 174-6, Derbyshire 162-6 - Worcestershire Rapids won by 12 runs
Gareth Roderick led an impressive recovery as the Worcestershire Rapids beat Derbyshire Falcons by 12 runs in the T20 Blast North Group match at the Central Co-op County Ground.
Roderick scored 71 from 57 balls and shared a stand of 85 from 62 with Ethan Brookes as the Rapids fought back from 10 for 4 to reach 174 for 6 with Zak Chappell taking 3 for 26.
Wayne Madsen led the chase with an unbeaten 77 from 53 balls, but Tom Taylor took 2 for 33 and Khurram Shahzad and Ben Dwarshuis bowled superbly at the death to keep the Rapids in the race for the knock-outs.
