T20 Blast Finals Day in 2024 will be staged on September 14, the England and Wales Cricket Board have announced.

Held in mid-July in the past two summers, the move is partly down to the international schedule which is impacted by the men's T20 World Cup in the West Indies and United States being staged in June.

England men face Pakistan in May, but the bilateral series with the Windies, Sri Lanka and Australia only start in July. The women's assignments have yet to be announced.

An allocation of tickets had already been sold for the showcase occasion, already confirmed to return to Edgbaston for a 12th straight year, without a date having been confirmed, and those impacted have a week to obtain a refund.

Somerset are the defending champions, winning their second crown after beating Essex in the final.

September has been the traditional recent home for the day, which comprises both semi-finals and the final, staging each of the 2017, 2018 and 2019 events.

The Covid-affected 2020 summer saw it delayed until October, but it returned to September in 2021.

The last two years have seen the middle weekend in July used to host Finals Day but another move, back to the last month in the English cricketing summer, now beckons.

Typically, the day still sits within a tightly packed schedule for England men, falling in between the second and third T20 internationals against Australia on September 13 and 15 in Cardiff and Manchester, calling into question the availability of leading white-ball players.
