Fixture: Lancashire Lightning v Notts Outlaws

Venue: Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester

Dates: Sunday, June 20, 2021

Start time: 2.30pm

What's the lowdown?

Inconsistent Lancashire Lightning and defending champions Notts Outlaws appear to be in something of a bunfight to secure qualification for the last eight in the North Group, and victory here for either could make a major impact on the standings come the end of the first phase of the Blast in 2021.

Lightning have plenty of firepower up front but have not been able to translate that into reliable form on the field so far. Of their five matches, two have been lost. In addition to Friday's washout, that leaves Lancashire fifth as the fourth of four teams on seven points.

Notts, meanwhile, have a marginally superior net run rate to leave them fourth in the table. The Outlaws tied their first game of the campaign and lost their second but have since won three on the bounce - albeit against the three bottom sides in the North Group.

Who's in form?

Liam Livingstone rolls on at speed for Lancashire Lightning. Livingstone has smashed 254 runs at 63.5 with a strike rate of 141.89, but misses this one on England duty. In his absence, Finn Allen will need to take on the burden of runscoring for Lancashire. The Kiwi has 137 runs this term, but 73 came in a single innings against Leicestershire Foxes.

Matt Parkinson might have been left out by England yet again but he continues to impress in the Blast. The legspinner, always effective within the dimensions of Old Trafford, has nine wickets this season and has gone at 8.05 per over.

Joe Clarke has been striking the ball as cleanly as ever, with his 210 runs in the Blast coming at a strike rate of 201. Whether Clarke's mindset will be impacted by his imminent trial on charges of affray remains to be seen. Ben Duckett and Alex Hales have also stepped up with contributions of note at the top of the order this season.
