What’s the lowdown?

Two inconsistent sides square off at Nevil Road knowing they both need a win to try to steer their respective campaigns back on track.

Gloucestershire sit fourth in the South Group - and in a qualification position for the quarter-finals as things stand - after five matches, of which they have won two.

They were successful in their most recent run-out, a narrow and somewhat controversial Duckworth Lewis Stern win over Middlesex at Radlett, before Friday's trip to Essex Eagles was abandoned without a ball being bowled as rain rattled the UK.

Hampshire, meanwhile, have won just once in their five matches and occupy seventh spot in the standings.

The Hawks were also rained off on Friday night, having lost their previous two matches - including to Middlesex, who can count that as their only positive result so far this term.

Who’s in form?

Dan Worrall was economic in his first appearances of the campaign, against Middlesex on Thursday. The Australian's four overs went at just 6.75 each. Josh Shaw is the leading wicket-taker for Gloucestershire in the Blast this year, with seven wickets at 14.57, and an economy rate of 7.84.

With the bat, Gloucestershire have had a remarkbly consistent season so far. Their returns in their matches have been 179 for 6, 177 for 7, 178 for 8, and 157 for 5 (in 18 overs). Only one man has a half-century to his name - Ian Cockbain. Glenn Phillips, the overseas player from New Zealand, has 131 runs at a strike rate of 154.11.

Five games in and Hampshire are still waiting for a batsman to pass fifty. D'Arcy Short has posted the best individual innings of the season - 48 from 28 balls against Middlesex, while Joe Weatherley is the leading runscorer for the Hawks with 134. But that does not make the top 20 across the competition as a whole.

Despite Hampshire going for 217 runs against Middlesex, Kyle Abbott's four overs went at just 6.75 in his first T20 appearance of the campaign. Mason Crane is the Hawks' leading wicket-taker so far in 2021 with eight scalps at 15.5 and an economy of 8.26.

What’s the team news?

Gloucestershire's 14-man squad is unchanged.

Gloucestershire squad: Miles Hammond, Chris Dent, Ian Cockbain, Glenn Phillips, Jack Taylor, Ryan Higgins, Benny Howell, Graeme van Buuren, Tom Smith, David Payne, Matt Taylor, James Bracey, Josh Shaw, Dan Worrall

Hampshire have named a 14-man squad. Academy batsman Toby Albert is included.

Hampshire Hawks squad: James Vince, Toby Albert, Tom Alsop, James Fuller, Liam Dawson, Ian Holland, Chris Wood, Lewis McManus, D'Arcy Short, Joe Weatherley, Brad Wheal, Kyle Abbott, Mason Crane, Ryan Stevenson
