Fixture: Hampshire Hawks v Glamorgan

Venue: Ageas Bowl, Southampton

Date: Sunday, July 18, 2021

Start time: 2.30pm

What’s the lowdown?

Only a win will do for Hampshire Hawks, who still have a chance of reaching the last eight.

Hampshire must overcome Glamorgan at the Ageas by a margin big enough to bump their net run rate above Surrey's - and given that gap is just 0.006 it should not be too difficult to do - to ensure they make the quarters.

In the event that they win but do not jump above Surrey on run rate, the Hawks will be hoping that Gloucestershire lose at Somerset.

Glamorgan, meanwhile, are well out of contention, have lost each of their last three and will be desperate to claim some meagre consolation from their final runout of the campaign.

Who’s in form?

Two words: James Vince.

Hampshire's captain returned from a fruitful spell with England with a bang on Friday, scoring a half-century and a magnificent ton in victories over Essex Eagles and Sussex Sharks, more than doubling his Blast run tally for the season in the process.

Scott Currie has been the pick of the Hampshire bowlers in this tournament, with 15 wickets at 11.93 apiece. The return of Liam Dawson from Covid isolation is also crucial for Hampshire, with the left-arm spinner the most miserly regular bowler in their department (an economy rate of 7.34 from his 138 deliveries in the competition so far).

Glamorgan have relied on the wickets of Dan Douthwaite (15 at 19s) and runs of Marnus Labuschagne (312 at 52) in 2021.

What’s the team news?

Hampshire Hawks: Hampshire have made no changes to the 12-man squad which played back-to-back matches on Friday.

Hampshire squad: James Vince (captain), Lewis McManus, Scott Currie, D’Arcy Short, Liam Dawson, Joe Weatherley, James Fuller, Brad Wheal, Colin de Grandhomme, Tom Prest, Chris Wood, Mason Crane

Glamorgan: Joe Cooke replaces Michael Neser in the only change to Glamorgan's 13-man squad. Marnus Labuschagne is in line to make his final appearance of the season before returning to Australia.

Glamorgan squad: Chris Cooke, Kiran Carlson, Joe Cooke, Dan Douthwaite, Colin Ingram, Marnus Labuschagne, David Lloyd, Sam Pearce, Billy Root, Andrew Salter, Ruaidhri Smith, Timm van der Gugten, Roman Walker
