Boris Johnson – Prime Minister

Congratulations on reaching 100 not out – a testament to The Cricketer’s continued relevance, longevity and expert coverage.

As we cautiously reopen society, we can all look forward to a great summer of sport. I look forward to seeing teams return to pitches across the country, and getting back to enjoying one of the nation’s great summer pastimes.

Sir Keir Starmer – Leader of the Labour Party

Congratulations to The Cricketer on reaching 100 years. You've remained relevant and interesting with great coverage year after year. I look forward to seeing you retaking your guard and carrying on through to a double ton.

Rishi Sunak – Chancellor of the Exchequer

Congratulations to The Cricketer on a masterfully crafted unbeaten century. You continue to cover the whole of the game in immensely comprehensive, witty, and insightful detail – and I’m sure you will continue to clock up the runs in this fantastic innings.

This year has been tough and I know many are missing the buzz of watching a game, which is why we’re trying to help fans get back into stadiums. Happy birthday!

Joe Root – England captain

Reaching 100 not out is an amazing achievement. Hopefully there will be another 100 to come! I still get plenty of issues left at my front door by my grandad I look forward to it. He’s a massive follower. All the very best.

Heather Knight – England captain

Massive congratulations on your 100 years. That is an amazing achievement and I am sure you have got so many more to come. I look forward to keep reading the magazine in the future.

Captain Tom Moore

Before he passed away in February, the great man kindly gave us these words. We run them in tribute..

From one centurion to another, I’m delighted to wish The Cricketer a happy 100th birthday. I’ve been enjoying my subscription hugely.

I’ve been watching cricket from my teenage years, and my father was a keen spectator. I also played at school, and it was a thrill to go to a Test for the first time, at Headingley. It was also absolutely outstanding to receive a message from Joe Root, something I really appreciated: it was very special.

Cricket has changed a lot in our lifetimes, of course. I recall the era of amateurs, when a lot of them had to have secondary jobs after the season. It’s great that The Cricketer has survived all those changes. Best wishes.

Michael Vaughan – Former England captain

As a kid the arrival of The Cricketer through the letter box was one of my great joys growing up, especially the month with the pull-out with all the new kit coming out. Well done on reaching three figures… now go on and make it a ‘daddy hundred’!

Stephen Fry

100 years of The Cricketer. That’s pretty damned good, you know. From Wilfred Rhodes to Jonty Rhodes. From red balls to pink. From men mostly to a thriving women’s game. Here’s to you.
