As Chance to Shine's 20th anniversary year draws to a close, the charity celebrates the achievements made over the two decades it has delivered cricket. The milestone year saw 600,000 young people involved, with 51 per cent girls, and offered an opportunity to reflect on the charity's impact since 2005 through a series of events. Since its founding, 7.8m young people have taken part in Chance to Shine programmes.

Over the past year, the charity worked in 4,467 state primary schools, ran 302 free-to-access Street cricket clubs and trained thousands of coaches. Regional and national tournaments introduced thousands of children to competitive cricket in a friendly, inclusive environment. With 90 per cent  of Street clubs located in the most deprived areas of England and Wales, and 46 per cent of schools with above-average free school meal eligibility, Chance to Shine continues to focus on under-served communities.

The anniversary year also featured special events: from breaking the Guinness World Record for the largest cricket lesson at a single venue (943 children, pictured), to an Impact Report launch at the House of Lords, and a return to the charity's first-ever school for a takeover day that demonstrated the many ways the sport can inspire.

The organisation now looks ahead to continuing its goal of giving all young people the opportunity to play, learn and develop through cricket in the new year.
