Guests travel from as far as Cornwall, Scotland and Newcastle for special night at Lord's
CHARITY FEATURE
There was something special in the air at Lord’s on November 20 – not just excitement for the first ball in Perth, but a deeper sense of pride, purpose, and possibility for the future of cricket. Chance to Shine’s Awards, proudly presented by Compare the Market, brought together outstanding young people, and those inspiring them through the sport, to recognise dedication and expertise, as well as the charity’s 20th anniversary.
The night celebrated incredible people who go above and beyond to make cricket a force for good. Travelling from as far as Cornwall, Scotland, and Newcastle, the winners, chosen through a rigorous judging process across eight categories, reflected the charity’s reach and impact.
The night featured presentations by members of the cricket network, and congratulatory video messages from cricket stars – many now at the Ashes – but the real stars were in the room. Children embracing cricket wholeheartedly. Coaches helping young people master catches and confidence, and championing Play Their Way child-first coaching principles. Clubs and schools teaching teamwork alongside technique, where cricket is more than a game – it’s an opportunity.
And through it all, a powerful message: the future of cricket is bright. Not just because of the talent on the field, but because of the community behind it, ensuring children can play, learn and develop through the sport.
