Group A

Old Trafford: Lancashire 233-9, Middlesex 233-5 - Middlesex win by five wickets (DLS)

Rocky Flintoff hit his maiden fifty for Lancashire in their Metro Bank One-Day Cup match against Middlesex at Emirates Old Trafford but his 115-ball 88 could not prevent the visitors securing a vital five-wicket victory in their bid to qualify for the knockout stages of the competition.

The 16-year-old's polished contribution helped his side post 233 for 9 in what had become a 48-overs-a-side match. But that total was overhauled by Middlesex for whom Joe Cracknell made 98 before he was stumped off Jack Morley when only 24 runs were needed for victory.

Flintoff had been caught off the last ball of his side's final over, having hit six fours and two sixes in his fifth innings for the county his father, Andrew, represented with distinction. However, his effort was eclipsed by Cracknell and Sam Robson, who put on 175 for Middlesex's second wicket.

The visitors then lost four wickets late in their innings to spark a few nerves in the away dressing room, but Robson was unbeaten on 90 when the victory was sealed with eight balls to spare.

Group B

Scarborough: Yorkshire 236-7, Leicestershire 152-2 - Leicestershire win by eight wickets (DLS)

Ian Holland starred for champions Leicestershire with ball and bat as they maintained hopes of a Metro Bank One-Day Cup title defence with a rain-affected eight-wicket win over Yorkshire at Scarborough, the Foxes chasing a revised 22-over target of 150.

Allrounder Holland took the new ball and returned 2 for 39 from 10 overs before opening the batting with 42 off 25 balls as Leicestershire won for the fourth time in six fixtures to move into the top three places in Group B.

Helped by captain Lewis Hill's excellent 71 not out off 54 balls with four sixes, Holland dented Yorkshire's chances. They lost for the third time in six having made 236 for 7 from 50 overs after being inserted before rain at the mid-innings interval forced a two-hour delay to 5pm.

The Vikings recovered from 118 for 6 thanks to a career best 60 from Dom Bess and 55 not out for Matthew Revis, the seventh-wicket pair sharing 112. But the exploits of Holland and then Hill usurped their contributions.

Edgbaston: Glamorgan 143-5, Warwickshire - no result

Group B pacesetters Glamorgan and Warwickshire both relinquished their Metro Bank One-Day Cup 100 per cent records in deeply frustrating fashion with a 'no result' at Edgbaston.

On a rain-lashed day in Birmingham, after a much-delayed start, a 21-overs per-side match was started and Glamorgan reached 143 for five from 18 overs amongst a series of further interruptions.

Sam Northeast (68 not out) powered his side to a challenging total, with Warwickshire facing a DLS target of 155 in 18 overs, but before they could embark on their chase, the rain that had haunted the Second City all day returned to kill the contest.

A point apiece leaves the two teams still strongly placed in the Group B table. They will be hoping for better luck with their weather next Sunday when Warwickshire face Yorkshire at Rugby School and Glamorgan meet Leicestershire at Leicester.
