Whiteley hit eight fours and four sixes in a 52-ball 80 to propel the Falcons to 341 for 8 at the Central Co-op County Ground, their highest List A score against the visitors.
After Caleb Jewell's 60 established a platform, Amrit Basra scored 72 from 54 balls, his maiden List A fifty, which helped lead a recovery from 161 for 5 before Whiteley and Zak Chappell launched a savage onslaught.

Chelmsford: Worcestershire 340-9, Essex 280 - Worcestershire won by 60 runs
Isaac Mohammed evoked the spirit of his uncle, the England allrounder Moeen Ali, with a maiden half century to get Worcestershire's Metro Bank One-Day Cup campaign off the ground with victory at Chelmsford.
The 17-year-old opener, who only made his first-team debut in the Vitality Blast less than two months ago, played enterprisingly in laying the foundations for Worcestershire's 60-run win against Essex with 28 balls to spare.
Worcestershire's 340 for 9 was built around four big-hitting half centuries from top-order batters, who shared 11 of 12 sixes in the innings with Mohammed landing four of them. His 63 from 75 balls was the appetiser before Kashif Ali (80 from 73) and Jake Libby (70 from 63) put on 110 in 17 overs. That preceding Ethan Brookes exploding on to the scene to take the game away from the still winless hosts.
Bristol: Leicestershire 285-7, Gloucestershire 286-7 - Gloucestershire won by three wickets
Rookie batsman Tommy Boorman compiled a superb match-winning innings of 38 not out under intense pressure to carry Gloucestershire to an impressive three-wicket victory over Leicestershire in the Metro Bank One Day Cup at Bristol.
Making only his third List A appearance, Boorman struck two fours and two sixes and staged an unbroken eighth-wicket stand of 35 in 18 balls with Craig Miles, who helped himself to a brace of sixes in making 18 not out as Gloucestershire reached their victory target of 286 with nine balls to spare.
Gloucestershire appeared to be cruising when James Bracey compiled an eye-catching 96 from 106 balls and staged an opening stand of 105 with Cameron Bancroft, who contributed 40. But seamer Alex Green turned the tide back in Leicestershire's favour, taking 5 for 52, dismissing both openers and dangermen Ben Charlesworth and Jack Taylor to set up a tense finale.
Beckenham: Kent 238-8, Durham 239-3 - Durham won by seven wickets
Emilio Gay hit a brilliant century as Durham coasted to a seven-wicket win over the Kent Spitfires in the Metro Bank One Day Cup at Beckenham.
Gay carried his bat to finish on 119, from 110 balls, including a six and 12 fours, alongside Colin Ackermann who was unbeaten on 38 at the end.
Earlier Mitch Killeen bowled an outstanding opening spell to take three for 15 from 10 overs as Kent were held to 238 for 8. Ben Compton made 55 before Jack Leaning hit 68 from 50 to give the hosts something to defend, but it never looked like being enough and the visitors won with 10.4 to spare.
