Pace bowler Nathan Ellis has joined Punjab Kings for the remainder of the 2021 Indian Premier League.
The tournament, which was suspended on May 4 due to rising Covid-19 cases in both the bio-secure environment and India, will resume on September 19 in the UAE.
Ellis has been signed by the Kings to bolster their fast bowling options in the likely absence of his Australia teammates Riley Meredith and Jhye Richardson.
This IPL contract caps off something of a whirlwind 12 months for the 26-year-old who took 20 wickets for Hobart Hurricanes in the 2020-21 Big Bash before completing a hat-trick on his T20I debut for Australia against Bangladesh at the start of August.
Ellis was also recently named as a travelling reserve in Australia’s T20 World Cup squad.
Punjab Kings are currently sixth in the IPL, lying two points behind fourth-placed Mumbai Indians with six matches remaining.
